Fairhope, Alabama

My family’s relocation to Fairhope, Alabama in 1999 was a new beginning for me.I was enjoying a severance package from Gayfer’s Department Store when my husband was offered an opportunity with his company to relocate. Although it took some adjustments, moving to a small community in one of the most unique parts of Alabama was one of the best things that I could have ever happened for our family.I started out trying to do freelance graphic design but that had its challenges because I didn’t know anyone in the area. During my exploration of our new community I found that there were so many fun things to do. I also found that there was nothing you could put your hands on that specifically featured those events or entertainment. With a background is in Advertising/Marketing, I used my work experience to combine those events with the natural accompaniment of food and drink. That combination resulted in a publication that I named The Eat Beat. The Eat Beat was introduced to the public in June of 2002. Every two weeks I publish an Eat Beat, which is basically a four page newsletter. It is a free publication that is can be found in over 100 distribution sites on the Eastern Shore. I promote local events that involve food and beverage and always do a “Featured Foodie” article on a local chef or restaurant owner or manager.
